Ok I see your point about tennis.
But about poker: The rule for betting out of turn is:
An action or verbal declaration out of turn may be ruled binding if there is no bet, call, or raise by an intervening player acting after the infraction has been committed.
So in this case you could force your opponent's play to stand, just like you currently can to an illegal play in backgammon.
I like this rule, but isn't it in conflict with the argument for legal moves which you are making?
