In Response To: Legal plays?? (Chuck Bower)

The example I gave was about a heads up situation. I might be wrong but I think that the player who acts out of turn, if he honestly thinks it was his turn, always gives away information here.
At the very least he has given away the information what his action is going to be, if the other player (or the dealer) rules that his bet shall stand.

But I think all of this starts to be a bit off-topic, I posted this example only in reaction to Stick's original post where he stated that in other sports such as poker the ruling by the players themselves worked fine, so why not do the same in backgammon.

I don't agree with that, I think that those situations in other sports only exist because for whatever reason it is not possible to have a judge or a suitable rule, not because the ruling by the players themselves works so well.
