As I show by a couple of examples in my post a few minutes ago, I think letting the spectators interject themselves into a match in progress under any circumstances other than something along the lines of telling one of the players that his cigarette lighter just exploded in his jacket pocket, opens a window we will all eventually wish we'd left closed.

But I like your comment about the Novice division, agree completely, and would go as far as saying I'd be more lenient about just about anything in the Novice division. It may be those players' first time playing on a real board, for all we know.
