Have never heard of spider before referring to an 8 cube.

At last! An opportunity for South Africa to make a positive contribution to global backgammon culture! :-) The arachnid's eight legs and deadly venom could become the talking point of your next chouette! It's a great word with which to taunt hapless victims, and it adds spice to any hard-luck dice story. Volatile gammonish situations where the cube's on 4 can evince piquant post-mortems such as, "I had him trapped in my spider's web, then I rolled a @#$% anti-joker and the spider came back to bite me on my ass!"

So why not casually drop the "spider" into your next backgammon conversation? If hipster BG giants start using the word, no doubt it will sweep the globe! Here's your chance to expand the lexicon man!
