I'm not sure I fully understand your comment, but it doesn't seem to match my experience. My "Analyze" setting is currently set to "World class" which I believe doesn't go higher than 4-ply. If I set up a position manually and then click on "Analyze," then sometimes one play will be marked with the icon and sometimes it won't be. Certainly if the analysis doesn't make it through the filter to 3-ply, then the icon won't be there, but if some plays get analyzed up to 4-ply then I haven't been able to figure out when the icon shows up and when it doesn't.
