Foul up these aces

I understand the motivation behind 2/1* but my anecdotal experience has been that it doesn't work too well in this sort of situation. Certainly if we're lucky we might get one of those blots hit right away. (By the way, why does 5-1 force the opponent to hit? I count only 6 forced hits.) If they don't get hit, however, then what do we do? Do we remake the 1pt or 2pt when the opportunity presents itself, or do we leave the blots there, hoping to get hit later? What often seems to happen to me is that the blots sit there for a long time, and then finally I hit my shot, whereupon I no longer want to get hit. Then, of course, I do get hit on the 1pt or 2pt and the potency of my backgame is greatly diminished. This is an extension of the general principle that if you slot the ace point then you usually want to make it, because otherwise it may get hit at an inopportune time. The 2pt isn't great but I think it's better than 2 blots on the 1pt and 2pt, and it's not even clear to me that it's worse than a blot on one of those points plus another checker sent back.

Though as I said elsewhere, I would play 23/22 here, if given the choice between 2/1* and 6/5*, I think I would play 6/5*. This at least slots two points that we wouldn't mind making later on if we don't get hit.
