Origin of problem, and rollout

This position is problem 1 on the 2004 "Cameron" quiz.
When I looked at it, I first considered 8/4 6/4, but decided that leaving a direct shot and two blots was too high a price to pay. Then I looked at plays that made the 9pt. The only one I liked was 13/9 11/9, which stripped the midpoint. Finally I looked at 11/7 9/7 making the bar. Though the bar point isn't particularly valuable when the opponent has just one checker back, on our 3pt, I thought it was nevertheless better than the 9pt.
According to the "Cameron" rollout, anything but 13/9 11/9 is a blunder. Looking at it now, I can see that 13/9 11/9 creates a much healthier distribution than 11/7 9/7 despite stripping the midpoint. The fact that it's 6 away from White's blot is a bonus, though I don't think it's the major factor.
