In Response To: 1st International Backgammon Championship (Mochy)

The most important thing about efforts like this is TO DO IT. The way to get things going is to get things going. So many people here (and elsewhere) are all talk and no do. It's easy to find fault with the format or to criticize the event before, during and after. But the most important thing is that people like Mochy and others involved in these kinds of efforts are putting themselves out there and actually doing something positive to create international interest, competition, cooperation, and hopefully, sponsorship.

These kinds of efforts need to be supported by all. So what if the format isn't perfect the first time? So what if we don't attract many sponsors until we have more countries and federations involved? Many times big things happen by taking small steps.

Not to criticize any previous No. 1 Giants, but how wonderful it is to have one that is using his standing to promote the game internationally!
