A good rule of thumb is to NEVER come part way up with the last checker when it can be attacked but isn't severely blocked back on the ace pt and there's other ways to play the number. Almost any reasonable play here is superior to 24/22 13/7. Too much is lost when the checker on the 22 pt is attacked either this turn or later when it cannot get away.
