Bots Level the Playing Field?

Who says bots have leveled the playing field? I think the opposite is true. Today's top players are incredibly strong, in large part because they study assiduously with the bots. Folks with middling error rates, like 7 or 8, who really aren't bad players and who probably do OK at their local chouette, have much less chance at winning anything nowadays than they did in years past. I think this may be part of the reason that attendance at tournaments is lagging now: many more people see themselves as having little chance of cashing and don't want to or can't put in the bot-related work that is required to have a good shot at getting into the winner's circle.
