I have a small collection of these as they don't come up for me to have a large enough collection and I'm not a fan of manufacturing positions but it is always clear in this type of situation to put him on the bar by making the point, 7/1*(2). The extra gammons won exceed the single losses easily in most situations. You could of course alter the position so it wouldn't be correct, such as taking the ugly spares on your opponent's 3pt and using them to make the 5pt but these are the sort of things you should be alert for.
