I wouldn't expect 3-ply checker play to shine much brighter than 2-ply here (especially with a small 2-ply filter), but 2-ply cube action may be off, with White down 26 pips in an often soon-to-be 21- or 18-point holding game. You might try a rollout with 2-ply checker play and 1-ply cube -- 3-ply if you have loads of time, but 1-ply and 3-ply cube tend to be similar in positions like this one.
