Reasons for the Jacoby Rule

In Response To: Reasons for the Jacoby Rule (Stein Kulseth)

Like Joe said, another effect of the Jacoby rule is that it punishes players who tend to double too late, because when they miss their market by a mile they can't play for the gammon anymore.
I think this has a bigger impact on the equity of the better player in moneygames, than recognizing the occasional position that becomes a double only because the Jacoby rule is in place.
