Nack: The R candidate (24/18 13/7(3)), without assumption, can be nactated Z.
Why Z and not S? What is S?
Excellent question. Answer: For doublets, S refers to playing three portions on the far side and one portion to or within the outer board. In short, 3:1.
By contrast, Z is 1:3, which fits 24/18 13/7(3).
Can it be nactated B, even if it means 1 up and 3 down instead of 2 up and 2 down?
Yes, in the case of 65R-xxx-66 played 24/18 13/7(3). While I recommend getting in the habit of using Z for 1:3, B is okay here because no 2:2 play exists.
Five of the BEACON letters have an underlined family, each representing a 3:1 or 1:3 play. B is the only one that does not. B is replaced by S (3:1) and Z (1:3), creating a better division of labor for "B-like" plays. If I had found similarly natural upgrades for the other five letters (OCEAN), I would probably have integrated them. :)
Here is a more complete explanation of B/S/Z. Non-doublets are covered in the first half of the post, doublets in the second half.
