1. Many objectives here: make the 4, move to the edge of the prime, escape the prime, hit the checker on the 9, deny black an anchor, avoid being hit. I like 24/22 11/9*, which does a lot of good things: move to the edge of the prime and create an anchor there, gain time to escape checkers and/or make the 4-point, reduces the chances of getting hit, creates a builder for the 4-point. There are other nice plays, and I think this is a difficult problem.

2. Looks like a bit of trouble despite the race lead. Let's play 24/22 (seeing the new whole in the prime) to start, and then 6/5*, using our board advantage. Making the 22 is reasonable, but passive and with our positional disadvantage and tactical advantage I think we should gamble more on the next exchange. Anyway, this being a Stick problem, can making the 22 be possibly right?

3. OTB, I would hit and lift. But if we hit and lift, and over the next few rolls black rolls a 6, we are in big trouble anyway. If we keep the 6 slotted with 18/13, we may cover, or we may lift with a smaller number (which would be good compared to 6/1 now, because then we could move more pips with our laggards, reducing the cumulative danger over the next rolls. Hence 18/13 18/17*.

4. I see this as a position where both sides probably need 5 rolls to bear off, and then would correct for the fact that small numbers work much better for black than for white. Looks like a recube and a take.

5. Normally I'd just make the 4 point, but I have note that making the 18 is often effective against a stack on the midpoint without another source of 6s. Under these conditions, basically you are forcing 13/X, wherever the number on the dice force it to go. Here we are not quite there yet, but we are getting close enough. And also timing is a bit iffy if we stay deep. 21/18(2) seems indicated. Then 10, 4, preparing to build, looks fine. So 21/18(2) 13/10 7/4
