5/3, with same idea, has certain advantages, in that you can also give bad 3s down the road by running of the anchor. With 4/3, you first need to cover the blot before you can set up bad 3s.

Yes, 5/3 is a nice idea but it's hard to get it to work, mainly because what is happening immediately is so much bigger than anything else. Even later, Blue is unlikely to gain much by splitting even if he subsequently rolls an ace to give him his best split. We're comparing a double shot on 62 52 42 32 and single shot on ten aces versus only a single shot on the same 8 deuces plus a double or double+ shot on 63 53 plus whatever extra he sometimes gains on aces, minus more payoff to jokers if he hasn't yet completed his prime. In the actual position, I imagine that 10/9 5/3 or 24/23 5/3 is blunderish.
