I guess I am surprised that the 51 variant is also a pass. Before seeing this thread I would have taken that in a flash because I know the 62 variant is borderline.

That's a logical reaction. I think the 1.001 was based on only 5k trials, if that. So, it may well be a pass (or possibly the only 1.0000000 early game position that exists, lol.)

David Montomery mentioned 51U-55A-F-C to me as a borderline take/pass ten or fifteen years ago; he had probably rolled it out on Jellyfish or Snowie-1 (I later "confirmed" it with a Snowie-4 rollout). It was more relevant back then, because opening 51U, though at the tail end of its popularity, was still sometimes played.
