In position one, I make the bar. I think the danger is to note that the hit is right at GG, notice that you can make it GG by doubling, and then treat all decisions as if it were GG. The point is, of course, that doubling may not be optimal. Here, if you hit and opponent return hits, you are not going to double and may not double any time soon. This accounts for a large percentage of the games. I think better to make the bar, hope that your opponent cannot anchor, and double after which you can play as GG. Curious whether this line of thinking is correct.

I don't have a rollout for 54S-61 at 𣯔, but I believe you are fundamentally correct. It seems to me (as you also implied) that some people (erroneously) play not-yet-cubed 𣯔 as if it is essentially gammon go; hence my reason for bringing it up. I hope someone rolls it out anyway, though. :)
