As it's the Beginner's Corner, I feel allowed to speak :-)

OtB I would have played 10/8(2) like you, of course.

But let's do some brainstorming...

10/9(2) 7/6(2), or maybe even 8/6(2), would be a way to bear in as fast as possible in order to rush home before White has the time to unstack all the checkers from the 20-point. It could mean increased gammon and even backgammon chances.

Another alternative could be something like 7/6 7/5 2/1, in order to spread spares and be more flexible in the future.
