1. Black's anchor-and-guard position might look strong but I think it's not actually that threatening because Yellow's position is flexible. D/T.

2. Bar/20 8/4* seems to be the natural play. The safer bar/21 13/8 is also a candidate but I don't see any reason not to grab the better anchor and hit.

3. I want to hit. I'd be less sure of hitting at an even score but trailing 7a3a inclines me to hit. 11/2*.

4. Black's raw take point is 33%, and Black has no gammon value or recube vig after taking. Still, I think Black can take here. Not sure, though, so I'd redouble. RD/T.

5. Hitting seems too reckless here; Yellow has a ton of return shots and will be happy to hit loose inside his board. I'd just make the 5pt.

6. If this were a money game and Black had a pure 4pt holding game with a 17-pip race deficit and Yellow's 5pt and 7pt filled in, I think it would be a pass or at best a close take. Here, Black's extra checker back is double-edged: it gives Black some extra shot potential and makes it harder for Yellow to come home safely, but it also hurts Black's racing chances (e.g., if Black rolls boxcars, Black is still losing because of the stranded back checker) and might cause Black to crunch prematurely. Not sure but I think I'd pass here. D/P.

7. This is basically DMP. Usually it's better to pay later, especially with a race lead and when the opponent's board doesn't look likely to improve much, which seems to be the case here. On the other hand, because we have so many wasted pips, our race lead is somewhat illusory, and paying later with 8/2 6/2 is really ugly. If we pay later and there's an exchange of shots then we'll regret shredding our board. I guess I volunteer a double shot with 18/8, but without much confidence.
