Splitting against deep (2 or 3) enemy points is somewhat challenging and not needed here that I have the advantage of the golden point. If I don't split I will make my points natrally easier and he will need to "roll correctly" in order to equalize.
the question is 9 or 10,5. Although 10,5 strips the 6 too quickly, it has the advantage of building a speed prime and dissuading the enemy from splitting. But if he can't split he will need to play with only 11 checkers (at least for some time) and it will be difficult for him to roll "correctly".
I like 10,5. It even leaves 3 shots against the 4 shots of 9.
I do not imagine a score that would make me split or prefer the 9 to 10,5. Perhaps 10,5 wins a little more gammons than 9, and I guess it wins more simple games too.
