1. Is this a "normal" prime-vs-prime position? Seems so; both sides have strong but not-quite-finished primes with two checkers trapped behind. Looks like a clear take. Any 2 looks devastating and many other rolls leave Yellow a favorite, with few anti-jokers. D/T for me.
2. Always make the 5pt? The alternative is to anchor and hit, 24/21 2/1*. The checker on the 2pt is kind of useless so 24/21 2/1* does two good things instead of one. Not completely sure but I'll play 24/21 2/1*.
3. I think we have to fight prime with prime here. If we hit then things have to go very well for us to be able to lock down an advantage; even though Black's five-prime has a gap, it's enough to cause us trouble trying to escape. I think we're better off trying to force Black to crack. 13/9 12/9.
4. Again I'm inclined to fight prime with prime. Bar/22 8/7 more or less equalizes; bar/24* 8/5 could turn out well but leaves an awful lot of return shots that make us an underdog. Bar/22 8/7 for me.
5. We're hugely behind in the race with no home-board points made, and Black has already split his back checkers. On the plus side, Black has only 9 checkers in the zone, and our 11pt is an important asset. We have no other blots or weaknesses. If we had a deuce-point anchor, I would take. But an ace-point anchor is considerably worse. D/P, though I think it may be close.
