1) 20/8(2). Am I ready to concede 15 great shots in order to have a good (but probably short of perfectly efficient) cube when I am missed ? No way.

2) ND/T. After the ideal sequence POH / dance, have I lost my market ? Yes. Have I overshot it by miles ? I don't think so. And on the other hand, the defense works pretty well when I roll nothing special.

3) B/22 13/9. Hitting is the reflex play, but I like my position after the safe play. The straggler is ideally placed on the 22, it has many escaping rolls, few rolls both hit it and close the 5, and the ones with a 4 in it are even duplicated.

4) B/20 13/8 10/5*(2). Now we are talking about a really efficient cube coming up, so although the double hit can hardly be really bad, I'll avoid the volatility. On the other hand, I am happy to keep the back checker where it has some annoyance value.

5) 18/17(2)* 18/16*. I am not sure that I am right to eschew hitting the third checker, but that blot on the 2-point is pretty out of play, and since Black is bound to enter everything very soon, it will be easier to follow up when I don't have blots all around the place. Then 18/17(2) seems just a little more diversified than 18/16 but I am all but sure about it.
