One of my basic rules is that I double if I have three good hitting numbers and the position is very volatile. You hit with a 6, 4, 2, and 1. Your opponent's inner board is quite poor with 3 checkers on his two point and no checkers in place to improve his board. With the pip lead, many hitting numbers, and horrible distribution for my opponent, I may have noticed that this was a cube. Cubing opportunities from the bar are something that I try to notice.
