Another strange incident from the Cleveland Tourney

I remember this very well as it happened to be the year I won. Bob and I were traveling together and had spent a few days in Paris prior to the World Championship taking in the museums and visiting with french friends of mine; Gerard and Eliane. Because we were staying quite a while in Europe, we had chosen to stay at the Hotel Alexandria in Monaco, which is a smaller hotel, for economic reasons. After the incident, Bob was concerned, for good reason, about bumping into 'Timone' outside of the tournament area.

I would occasionally joke with Bob that I had seen 'Timone' in our hotel and that he must be staying there. After a few minutes, I would tell him I was kidding. My joke backfired on me. After I won, Bob and I were waiting in the lobby early the next morning for our cab to Nice. We had to wait for nearly an hour and shortly upon arriving 'Timone' and two of his cronies came down the stairs and saw us. They had been staying there after all. 'Timone' knowing I had won, was circling around us and asking me questions like: how much I had won?; was I carrying the money?; etc. It was a long hour! I was justly punished for having been unkind to Bob with my jokes.
