Arg Vs Split Board Rolls

One concern I have always had about split board rolls is that even a relatively clumsy dice mechanic could learn to hold one die between two fingers but in the cup, allowing the opponent to hear something like the normal rattling noise (it would be a little different, but how many of us would both notice and instantly act?). He would then flip the loose die over the bar onto the LHS, which would tend to draw the eye in the same manner as a bad conjuror's distracting dime-flips. It would then likely go unnoticed when he sets the remaining die down on the RHS, showing the desired number.
(This can be done with all-RHS rolling, too, but the cheat has to be better at it not to be caught.)
I don't think this practice would be widespread, and the players who post here would not be the perps. They would not likely even be among the suspects--unless of course one of them happened to roll a crucial hitting number on the RHS with an inadvertent split-board roll. But I see no compelling reason to change the RHS rule and open this door, when there is very little or no downside that I see for keeping the rule as it is.
(I realize I have not addressed strictly LHS rolling, but if we open the door to that, split-board will almost inevitably follow in its airstream.)
