LOL @ US vs. Europe dig. No, dice-cheating is not something that comes up often at ABT events, at least not in my (mostly relatively recent) experience. My point is that I hate to see us needlessly open up the door to it. I totally disagree about the difference in difficulty for the mechanic trying to do a dirty dice-deed with the opponent at least in theory watching what he's doing, than with the opponent's attention directed elsewhere at the critical moment. I also would hate to see people come under suspicion wrongly because they produce more split rolls than most other people, inevitably with some of these rolls very favorable to themselves.

Split rolls don't happen all that often anyway, even with people's boards that have relatively low walls. What percentage of the time do they happen, maybe 1 and change? Why not just keep the current rule, they pick 'em up and try again? I've yet to read here a good reason to allow these anomalous rolls to stand.

The case for LHS and/or LHS with permission is different, as I already noted. But if I were a director, I'd hate to have to make rulings about whether the joker just rolled LHS was legit or not. But if the majority of directors want LHS permitted, I'm willing to defer to their judgment, though I'd wonder if they'd thought it over.

From what I'm reading here, though, if LHS gets into the tent, I suspect so will split rolls, which I believe would lead to consequences we don't want. I just noticed Chiva's post about "Timone"--what do you have to do to get barred from MC, anyway?
