1. Magriel's safe/bold criteria all seem to point in the direction of 13/3* so that's what I'll play.

2. The first play I considered was breaking anchor, but I think that's a mistake. We're well behind in the race so why are we running? Black has a strong prime and it's not going to be easy to extract those last two checkers if we run. Not to mention that Black enters fairly easily and could attack us. I'm not going to run here. If we don't run then our best game plan seems to be to counterprime. 13/8 11/7 is the most obvious counterpriming play; is it too bold to give Black 6 rolls to hit our slot from the bar? I don't think so. 13/8 11/7 for me.

3. Ahead in the race; opponent has an advanced anchor. We have the stronger board. Thus splitting is mandatory. 24/18 is the 6 and there are three plausible 2's: 18/16, 13/11, and 8/6. 13/11 is the QF play, duplicating 1's and 4's and taunting Black's anchor, so it's probably right, but if this weren't a quiz I would probably have played 18/16 OTB.

4. The obvious play is 20/13. The main alternative I see is 11/4*. With such a big race lead it's tempting to just try to bring everything home safely, but Black's holding game chances are pretty good here if we just play meekly. At some point we're probably going to want to hit, to prevent Black from consolidating even further. It's true that we don't necessarily have to hit this roll; we could wait for a more favorable opportunity. However, now looks like a reasonable time. We still have some flexibility and if we're hit back it's not the end of the world since Black's board is still weak. Plus, the cube is already turned. I'm going to go for the extra gammons with 11/4*.

5. The double hit looks crazy so it's PoH or make the 5pt. The 5pt is the 5pt and 8/5 7/5 leaves a more flexible position. However, PoH puts Black on the bar, prevents him from anchoring, and potentially gains us a tempo to run off our anchor. What about the cube? It's still centered, and I think the quieter play will be better as far as cube efficiency is concerned. Tough call but I'll make the 5pt.
