1) 13/3*. So many factors seem to point to the hit (outfield blot to collect, good backup if hit) vs making the 2-point (stripped position, blocked straggler) that I suspect I am missing something.
2) 13/8 11/7. Even with 3 checkers back I like to lean towards prime vs prime because Black is somewhat outtimed and has 2 dead checkers primewise.
3) 24/18 13/11. It is just as pretty as it is thematic as it is quiz-factorish. In such overextended positions with a inner board advantage, splitting is usually mandatory. Our position will soon be a ruin if we play too tight, and on the other hand the blots in front of Black's anchor are only partly a liability, and fours and ones are nicely duplicated. Still, it is three blots, so not necessarily right by much.
4) 20/13. I see that fours are duplicated after the hit, I see that it won't be a cruise home after the safe play, but hitting is still a little too rich for me.
5) 8/5 7/5. I went back and forth on that one. Making the 5 ensures that we will stay in the driving seat. On the other hand, POH is horrible structure-wise but so sweet when the opponent flunks. What made the balance fling for me is that if we manage to just play safely, there will be a lot of occasions to hit a loose blot, since Black rarely succesfully anchors.
