Here's another example to think about. Your opponent wins the opening roll with a 43 and plays 24/20 24/21. You now roll double 4's. According to what I said before you might think that pointing on the 5pt with 13/5*(2) is the right play. However, with double 4's you also have the option of hitting twice and making the 4pt, with 13/5* 8/4*(2). This turns out to be slightly better, because the combination of hitting twice, making the 4pt, and slotting the 5pt outweighs the value of hitting once and making the 5pt, leaving no blots. However, the plays are closer than you might think, so this underlines how strong in general it is to point on the 5pt.
