title hierarchy

Henrik, thanks for the lengthy answer. You compare to chess - if anything, my feeling is that in chess the grandmaster title is not exclusive enough (number 1000 is canon fodder for number one).
For Danish backgammon, if the Danish players agree that their grandmasters are truly very strong and impressive, that should be good enough. Also, the nature of BG makes it more difficult to design a system than that it is for games without an explicit luck element.
I come from a game where some of the old international grandmasters were jokes; then they tightened the rules perhaps too much, and in the next world championships one of the minor favorites (not a main favorite, but still) "only" has an international master title, which goes a bit too far the other way.
