For a rollout of the opening roll to be reliable, you have to be confident about a lot more than "a couple of positions." You have to be confident that the bot will play the entire game with an impressive degree of accuracy, or you can't trust it.
As for the specific challenge of rolling a 6-prime, I'd say that position is a heck of a lot more solved than the opening roll. Just because it is difficult for neural nets to figure out the correct approach doesn't mean it isn't a trivial position for a human expert.
