Computer Crash!

On the note of computer crashing in a roll out, is there a way to auto save the roll out periodically?
Not currently. There was talk of Xavier implementing an auto save feature in the soon to be released XG2 but I don't remember if he said for sure if that would be an option. While it would be a nice option if you're running rollouts that are so long as taking days or weeks can't you spare 30 seconds a day to stop, save, and restart the rollouts?
Also, these 4-ply roll outs should take weeks, right? Or were my settings wrong and causing me to go turtle slow?
They should take 'a while'. A lot will depend on what position you're rolling out, how many trials you are running, how many plays you're rolling out, and the speed of your computer of course too. Opening game rollouts will clearly take longer because the entire game has yet to be played. When the number of candidate plays goes from your standard two to three, four, or even more there will be a huge spike in time needed to finish the rollout. With your new desktop computer, depending on how many rollouts you put on at once, even for 4 ply rollouts they shouldn't take 'weeks', days max I'd say, but again a lot depends.
