Daily Quiz 4/7/11

So, should we expect rollouts of these daily quizzes or is that now a thing of the past?
1) Hmmm. What's the game plan here? We're behind in the race, so running to the 13 or 15 probably isn't right - we want to maintain contact. Burying a checker on the 2 point probably isn't right either. He's got the better board and an advanced anchor, so a blotty play proably isn't right. 13/4? I don't like playing behind the anchor, but I'll want to make that point in any case. So I guess that's my choice, by process of elimination. Slotting the bar point is intriguing, but I'm not sure what to do with the three. 13/4
2) S, $, or L? (L is my contribution to Nacktation - it means "Lame" in this case 6/3) Once the opponent has made an advanced anchor I don't think slotting is as beneficial , and splitting is even more useful than usual. So I split. 24/23 13/11
3) The hit on the 5 is obvious, what's not so obvious is whether to leave it slotted or safety it to the four. Looking at the pipcount, I'm inclined to play safe. 6/5*/4 14/13 24/23
4) I'm just going to keep making the 5 point in these situations until gnu tells me to stop. 8/5 6/5
5) For money or early match score, this is a double/pass for sure. AtS, if the cube stays where it is, winning a single game gets you to crawford while losing a single game keeps you ahead. If you double here, and your opponent takes you're playing for the match. Consequently, he's got a very deep take point - 10% if I did the math right (his choice is go to 6-away Crawford vs play this game for the match) and I wouldn't cube unless it's a cash or darn close to a cash.
So, what's his GWC here? Using the Trice count, White's point of last take is (44-5)/7 = 6 (rounding up) White is 12 pips behind. Figuring point-of-last-take => GWC == 25% and subtracting 2 percent per pip I get ~13%. That would imply a take. But it also means that we're within 2 pips of the point of last take. So I'm going to go with R/T although there's no way I would double this over the board. (I'd probably take OTB though).
