Hard problem. I'll hit not because I am able compute the exact extra wins vs the extra gammons lost, but because it seems to win a lot (there is often some life left after we are hit), and because the opp's gammon value is just over 60%, and supposing that we never redouble (which is of course a bit off), then ours is around 25%, and we do win gammons after the hit.
