When I was studying in Manchester, UK I used to visit quite often the Greek cafe (Myconos) looking for people to play traditional Greek Backgammon (classic bg, plus 2 variations). I had the chance to meet a good player with nickname "poseidon" but after a couple of matches he stopped playing me. Although I didn't envy his game, I really liked his nick, so I decided to "steal" it and become poseidon myself :-). By the way I heard once that in Bulgaria you play a backgammon variation called Tapa which is the same (or similar) to the Greek Plakoto.
Regarding classic backgammon although I do not consider myself strong, I feel I could play at a reasonable level so as not to bore my opponent :-)
I will send you an e-mail soon...
