Not much you can do with this number. With bar/23, it's either 23/22 or 24/23. At least 24/23 improves your anchor for sure. A big problem with the 23 point is that it's usually blocked by the 8 point. And if you have only two checkers back you have few ways to advance. But here, since there are still three open points between you and Opp's miniprime, and you have a 3rd checker back -- view it as an advanced anchor builder -- you're not committed to remaining on the 23 point, and you have several rolls to secure the 22, 21, or 20 point.

And also: if Opp's going to respond with 5-4, 5-3, 4-3 or 5-5, after 24/23, he's going to have to play them without pointing on little old me. Quite a swing on those rolls.
