Doubling while bearing in against a double anchor

I studied these positions some more and am a little puzzled by one thing. In your sequence, you start off with three points in front of the more advanced anchor (though they're not contiguous points—there's a gap), then you clear one of those three points (not the back one), and then you clear a second of the three points (again, not the back one).
Rule of thumb is that with three contiguous points to clear against a well-timed backgame, it's D/T. Here you have a gap, but still, it's not too surprising that with three points to clear it's D/T. Then when you clear one of the internal points, it becomes ND/T or close to it. This seems to make sense at first glance since your chances of being forced to leave a shot go up. However, after you clear the second internal point, it becomes D/T again. That's what puzzles me. Indeed, your own comments make it sound like Blue's situation is more precarious when he just has that final point to clear with a gap of size three in between. But the rollouts don't clearly support that idea.
I think, therefore, that it's important to consider what's happening elsewhere on the board. In the later positions, White's timing is also getting precarious, and Blue's board is stronger. That's what I'm guessing makes the latter positions clear doubles. One could test this theory by fiddling around with both boards to see what difference this makes.
