Leo, be aware that while Backgammon as written is still, in my opinion, the best backgammon textbook ever written, many of the solutions are wrong. My own copy is so annotated; my sources were:
(1) The positions from Magriel in Jeremy Bagai's Classic Backgammon Revisited .
(2) The positions analyzed by Thomas Zimmer in the defunct magazine Backammon Today.
Between them, my annotations should be nearly complete. If I had my copy with me I'd tell you just how many and which ones they were. "Nearly," because to these should be added whatever mistakes there are in Magriel's recommendations for best or "alternate best" opening plays and responses.
Online, Hardy Huebener identifies 29 positions wrongly solved, but that's only a partial list.
There's also Randy's list (originally posted in this forum and archived here) of problems flagged by Gnubg 2-ply analysis as errors when analyzed as 7-away, 7-away match problems. I've not reviewed Randys list at all. Gnubg 2-ply analysis is not perfect, and I don't know how appropriate that match score is to all the positions, but in any case Randy found that Gnubg 2-ply disagreed with 92 of the 267 positions Randy looked at from Chapters 12 through 29.
