I have studied bearing in against 2point back games thoroughly, and I have a generalization about them that I believe is accurate: you cannot generalize. If you change the timing a little, change the opponent's inner board a little, change where the spares are, you can easily go from no double to drop. You have to study the various positions with each of the variables changed. There is simply no magic place where it is clearly a double and clearly a drop when you change one variable...you have to consider a combination of variables.
