If you make the high anchor your opponent can dump behind you and avoid leaving shots while waiting for clearing rolls. A high anchor, in general, is good protection against a gammon, and good to protect the race. Here you don't have worries about losing a gammon, you are far behind in the race, so stay back to get more shots over the course of the game.
