This qualifies for the golden point mythbuster theme. One issue is how much is the GP an asset here. If is is, it is a small asset AtS. Since it does not save gammons and does not hamper enemy bearin MUCH, what remains is the flexibility provided (chosing the right time to leave). He can leave rolling timely 66 (difficult) and timely 22 - still more difficult. Or leaving with one man at a good time, or leaving with one and remaining unpunished even if at a bad time.
Making the GP, has a substantial shortcoming - in a -18pip race after the roll (effectively -22) one deserts the last man position and says good bye to much of the contact. I read in the news "but what soldiers are they, they don't know to dig dithches". Here knowing and having the inclination to make ditches can be harmful. Ditches need to have strategic value. In away (in certain situations when we roll just a little bigger later, it may turn the GP is being held, not the opposite.
