If you are behind, stay behind.

It might be another topic for Stick's mythbuster column, but here it's correct.

The 5pt anchor is very good if:
1) You are 5 to 10 pips behind in the race, so you want to avoid being primed because you still hope to win the race;
2) Your opponent still has some checkers to escape, so you want a better anchor than her;
3) Your opponent has some points in her home board, so there is serious danger of being blitzed.

Here, instead:
1) You are 22 pips behind;
2) White's last checkers are on her midpoint;
3) White's home board is empty.
