1: Double/drop
Early 55 double hit - dance is a drop, although a somewhat slim one. Here White has the 5 point over the ace which is a big improvement. White has one more back which is quite a drawback. The 2pt blot works both ways. It gives 14 ways to make the 4th board point as opposed to 8 after the 55-blitz, but if not made there are 11 rolls which stops the blitz dead in the tracks. I think that on average it is a plus for White. All together it feels like this is a drop - even if the most important of Stick's blitz criteria from last recap points to take:
  • The race is close
  • There are only 9, maybe only 8 men in the zone
  • The doubler's back checkers are not split or escaped - there is one more back there

One criteria that Stick didn't mention, and that seems very important, is number of men on bar. There is a big difference between 0,1, and 2 men on bar, and here Blue has 2.
I would suggest this one to be included in next weeks recap.

2: 6/5 3/1 3/2
There is something to be said for clearing from the rear and keeping the more compact position. This game may not be over for a long time, and Blue would quite like to hit something along the way in order to help getting his men home. Then he would rather have kept the 3pt. In the short run though the 6pt is another point in front of White's anchor where Blue can put his incoming checkers, and I think that takes priority.
3: No double/take
Even without any recube White has about a money take point here. Blue must be somewhat more of a favourite to even be in the window, risking 11 to gain 6. I am inclined to let Blue take a roll here. If he can make the 6-prime so 4s become true market losers, or if White timing deteriorates more than Blue's the cube will be more powerful.
4: 23/18
24/20 UTG isn't appetizing, neither is going behind the anchor. Which leaves 13/9 - probably then with 23/22 as 6/5 seems too rich and 9/8 too stacky - and 23/18. The bots often pushes out to the bar point, and it makes some sense. It will often be hit, but the bar point will not often be made, and there will be return shots. Also while White is hitting on the bar she isn't making inside points, so the play is also a distraction play. By contrast, if White hits on 9 she is liberating a back man, and Blue is losing more in the race. And if not hit, the builder really isn't that valuable against the anchor.
5: 13/8
Worse board, no inner board anchor, and the back men partly liberated. The criteria points to a safe play, and while making 4 or 5 or running one 18/13 are nice when they work, they are very costly when they don't. The pedestrian 13/8 still isn't too inflexible, Blue can release the midpoint next turn if he doesn't roll a double or a pointmaking number.
