Great comments as always, Nack. As for 43D-62H-54, I'm guessing it's on the cusp. Hitting gives Blue a poor distribution; he doesn't want two checkers on the 24pt and only two checkers on the midpoint, and as you said, a hit in our own outer board is less potent than a hit on the opponent's side of the board. However, a hit is still a hit and White's undeveloped position doesn't pose much of a threat to us, whereas we could launch a blitz if things go well.
