Cute roll, many plays. I'll compare the number of hit-covers and double hits. (Single hits aren't so important here, given White's 5pt blot.) The total is in red followed by the breakdown in parentheses.
172
65R-21S-64H-51$-52 146
D (Down, 13/11 14/9) ... 12 (9 hit-covers, 3 double-hits)
d (down, 13/11 13/8) ..... 11 (11 hit-covers)
H (Hit, 13/11 6/1*) .......... 6 (4 hit-covers, 2 double-hits)
O (Outer, 14/9 8/6) ......... 5 (5 hit-covers)
o (outer, 13/6) ................. 7 (7 hit-covers)
% (slot, 13/8 6/4) ........... 11 (11 hit-covers)
$ ($lot, 14/9 6/4) ............ 22 (13 hit-covers, 9 double-hits)
7 (7-point, 14/7) ............ 14 (14 hit-covers)I'll eliminate $ because 22 is too high. I'll also eliminate % and 7, which are less strong distributionally than D or d and at least as many shots.
That leaves the five lettered plays. H, O and o have the lowest totals but they seem ugly for just a few units of difference in the totals. Among those three, o seems the most promising, but I'm pretty sure that either D or d (if not both) is better.
Which of D or d is superior? I'll try D because it looks like it provides the most resilient position for only one extra unit of risk.
