The first thing I count in these positions is not the number of home-board points but the number of checkers in the zone. Not counting the 11pt checkers since the 5pt is already made, there are 8 checkers in the zone in position 1 and 9 checkers in position 2. So I'm not going to double in position 1 unless there are other favorable criteria. We have a slight race lead but it doesn't look like enough. ND for me. In position 2 we need much less of an excuse to double. The race is much better and the 2 checkers on the 11pt are useful for priming if the blitz doesn't work out. White has no defensive points made. I'd double in position 2. Should still be a take.
