David Once I disable the opening book, will the fix application still work? Or do I have to run the fixes before disabling the opening book?

Yes it will, the fix program use 3 separate files with the stored value of the positions in 3-ply, 4-ply and the OB. By default it install on the same folder than XG but you can also install it another folder.
