I really don't think that any kind of sweeping statement like this is true.

I know plenty of human opponents who are very cautious with the cube. Cube strategy is easy with them. They never double until it's obviously a gigantic drop. When I'm deciding whether to double, I don't have to think about whether it's objectively a double. I just have to judge whether my opponent will pass.

Similarly I know many opponents who are very aggressive doublers. Almost all their doubles are obviously ND/T.

You're faced with different decisions when playing humans versus playing bots, but I think you're misleading yourself if you insist that take/pass decisions are harder versus humans. If the humans you're playing habitually double later than a bot would, then you should just err on the side of passing.
