BQ: Hit or not hit?

Ahead in the race and with only one man back vs three for the opponent I'm inclined to play safe rather than hitting. The question is whether to make the four point or safety the blot with 15/11 13/11. Making the homeboard point is a permanent asset that will help us for the rest of the game while the eleven point isn't worth nearly as much. OTOH, if we allow him to hit on the 15 we give up all of our racing advantage. And on the gripping hand, having the four point whilst engaging in an exchange of hits is worth something. I make the homeboard point here, but I'm not sure it's right. I don't think hitting is.

BTW,per my usual approach, I don't read what anybody else has to say before posting my analysis. I like to do my own work and then see what other, better players have to say. Apologies if I sometimes repeat what's already been said.
